The Soul Movers are a Sydney-based, rockin' pop and funky soul band. Lead vocalist Lizzie Mack and guitarist Murray Cook (ex-Red Wiggle) are backed by top-flight, experienced musicians, Andy Newman on bass, Marko Simec on keys and Stu Wilson on drums.
Originally formed by frontwoman and primary songwriter Lizzie Mack in conjunction with the band’s founding father Deniz Tek (Radio Birdman), the group has evolved over the years.
The Soul Movers love a good collaboration both in their music and music clips and have worked with the "Swampers" in Alabama on their last Bona Fide album. Drummer Calvin Welsh steps back into the fray to play on live shows and drummers Justin Holder, Carlos Sargent and the legendary Milton Sledge have all pounded the skins on The Soul Movers tracks.
The band’s sound encapsulates the essence of retro soul, filtered through a contemporary lens. With clear 1960s and '70s influences and a-rockin' pop edge they can slide into blues and classic rock with the change of a gear.
The Soul Movers have been moving audiences bodies and hearts around the country in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth with a recent string of shows across the US as well as Europe in their sights for 2020.
And, most notably, a big debut at The Gum Ball.
