DASHVILLE SKYLINE 2019 - FORTY ARTIST LINE-UP REVEALED
Wagons, William Crighton, James Ellis to make triumphant returns
Following on from their initial 12-act announcement in February, which included the likes of Archie Roach, Tami Neilson (NZ), Emily Wurramara and The Kill Devil Hills, the team behind Australia’s cosmic country weekender, Dashville Skyline is pleased to reveal the full 40 artist line-up for this year’s 3 day boutique long weekend escape.
The mighty country rock band WAGONS returns to Dashville Skyline, having played the inaugural event in 2015. With enigmatic singer Henry Wagons riding shotgun after 20 years, the group are set to release their most cinematic record to date – Songs from the Aftermath – on August 8.
The remarkable trajectory of WILLIAM CRIGHTON continues in 2019, gracing some of the biggest festival stages in Australia, he recently toured England, with stopovers in Canada and Denmark. Shortly he will depart for an extensive tour of Sweden that will eventually bring him back home to the hallowed grounds of Dashville. A purveyor of dark and searing Australiana, he’s a favourite of the Dashville audience and is very much a part of Dashville’s woolen gossamer fabric.
As is the plight of the Dashville team, we are very excited to introduce a phenomenal new talent to Australian audiences – Irish singer-songwriter AMY MONTGOMERY. With a Bohemian aesthetic and a voice that channels Janis Joplin and Grace Slick, Montgomery will mesmerise the Skyline faithful.
Other acts joining the Dashville Skyline 2019 bill include the return of alt-country juggernaut ANDY GOLLEDGE, Americana songstress FREYA JOSEPHINE HOLLICK, an encore performance by Melbourne honky tonkers JAMES ELLIS & THE JEALOUS GUYS, the three-piece comprising Brendan Gallagher (Karma County), Bow Campbell (Front End Loader) and Bernie Hayes DEAD MARINES, singer-songwriter GRETA ZILLER, acclaimed songsmith SEAN McMAHON, the hook-laden rock of STEVE LANE AND THE AUTOCRATS, country purist JAMES THOMSON, the emotionally wrought folk-rock of LINCOLN MACKINNON & THE WRECKING TRAIN, acclaimed singer-songwriter JACKIE MARSHALL, the new project from Snowdroppers frontman Johnny Wishbone JD & THE HUNGER MEN, country songstress JEN MIZE, balladeer PADDY McHUGH, acoustic folk duo THE WEEPING WILLOWS, west coast ‘70s throwbacks MAGPIE DIARIES, singer-songwriter M.E. BAIRD, Darwin folk outlaws DAVE GARNHAM & THE REASONS TO LIVE, cowboy outfit JIMMY WILLING & THE REAL GONE HICK-UPS, rising Adelaide songwriter ALANA JAGT, local supreme cats CARL THE BARTENDER and NICHOLAS CONNORS and well self-respected Hunter supergroup Dashville Progress Society will pay tribute to the soundtracks of Quentin Tarantino’s movies with a special DASHVILLE DOES TARANTINO.
The fifth instalment of Dashville Skyline returns to Dashville from Friday, October 4 to Sunday, October 6 2019 (NSW’s Labour Day Long weekend). A celebration of alternative country music and the surrounding roots culture in its varied forms, the festival gives music lovers the option to purchase single day tickets, or full event three-day passes.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the namesake of the festival, a 1969 record by Bob Dylan, titled Nashville Skyline. It is indeed set to be a special year for the festival with a bunch of special new experiences planned, including the introduction of live radio sessions in the Tractor Shed, alongside a big music gear swap meet where musical equipment enthusiasts are encouraged to bring along some wares they are keen to trade. Embracing an overwhelming community of music enthusiasts, it is certain to be a special year for the festival.
The ultra-chilled countrified camping festival will host over 40 live performances, mouth-watering American-inspired food and bevvies, boutique market stalls, and an animal petting zoo. In 2019 Dashville Skyline will introduce live radio sessions, alongside a big music gear swap meet where music enthusiasts are encouraged to bring along some wares they are keen to trade.
Held at the same location as The Gum Ball, Dashville Skyline is a popular alternative to its predecessor, providing an amazing experience for alt-country music lovers and those who like to partake in an ultimate weekend escape, full of laid-back music and family fun.
