SKYLINE ARTISTS IN FOCUS FOR 2022

THE BLACK SORROWS

The-Black-Sorrows

We have been busting to announce the return of The Black Sorrows. After a mind blowing and earth shattering performance at Skyline in February we had to get them back, right away.  If you missed it, here is your chance!

Joe Camilleri and The Black Sorrows are one of Australia’s most prolific and enduringly popular bands renowned for their high-energy live shows, musicianship and infectious, rootsy rhythms.

Joe will present the classic soul, blues and country hits you love from The Black Sorrows' enormous back catalogue along with a selection from Jo's 50th album release The Black Sorrows' Saint Georges Road.

Joe Camilleri has been at the forefront of Australian music for decades as leader of Jo Jo Zep and The Falcons and The Black Sorrows and as writer of radio anthems Hit & Run, Shape I'm In, Chained To The Wheel, Harley & Rose & Never Let Me Go.

Joe is an ARIA Hall of Famer and one of the most committed and successful musicians this country has produced.

Dashville Skyline will be an exciting music event guaranteed to get your toes tapping.

FRAZEY FORD (Canada)

Some discerning Dashvillians might already know Frazey Ford as one third of acclaimed Canadian alt-country trio The Be Good Tanyas, others might be more across her stunning solo output.

Familiar or not, Skyliners are in for a special treat when Frazey steps into the Dashville arena.

Her most recent, and third album U kin B the Sun, Vancouver-based singer/songwriter Frazey Ford inhabits an entire world of shapeshifting rhythm, elevating every beat and groove with the subtle magnetism of her mesmerizing voice. With its graceful collision of soul and psychedelia and sometimes ’70s funk, it’s a body of work that invites both self-reflection and wildly joyful movement, and ultimately sparks a quiet transcendence.

Prepare yourself for a sublime Skyline performance.

WILLIAM CRIGHTON

William-Crighton-Blues-Fest-Renae-Saxby

“Breathes fresh and strikingly vivid life into the umbrous bush of traditional Australian balladry” - Rolling Stone Magazine

William Crighton grew up in small towns around the Riverina, NSW. A fusion of traditional music and unexpected experimentation, William’s songs explore vivid stories across colourful themes and musical manifestations. From tales of murder and suicide to love and euphoric conversations with ants. A child in awe of nature William is now a passionate environmentalist working against environmental destruction both on the ground and through his music.

“Life to me is about relationships. Not just with people. We’re all family one way or another. Navigating these relationships and staying afloat on the great emotional torrent is obviously not always easy but it certainly means that stories are everywhere. I like to find them and explore them” – William Crighton

Crighton has released 2 albums William Crighton 2016 and Empire 2018, the latter of which Dave Faulkner from the Hoodoo Gurus, in The Saturday Paper called “the best album of 2018, domestic or international”.

His third album Water & Dust released February 11th 2022. The majority of the album was written by him and his wife and collaborator Julieanne, and features some incredible musicians including long-time friends and collaborators Matt Sherrod & William Barton, Midnight Oil’s Rob Hirst & Jim Mogine, Jeff Lang, James Haselwood & Luke Davison.

Crighton’s music is not sculpted to fit fad or trend. He and his family, by blood and by song, are genuinely travelling a different track, jump on if you care to experience it.

“Even the squarest minds were left tripping” - Stack Magazine

FRANK YAMMA

Frank Yamma is one of Australia’s most significant Indigenous songwriters with an ability to cross cultural and musical boundaries. An initiated Pitjantjatjara man, Frank sings in his native language and English. His mighty songs, magical guitar playing and deeply evocative voice tell stories of country, protection, heartache, travel and love.

Dashville Skyline welcomes Frank to the bill with open arms, honoured to host one of Australia's most treasured Indigenous storytellers.

ANDY GOLLEDGE BAND

Andy Golledge is a livewire and a gentle soul, trapped in a 70s tuna fisherman’s body. He looks like your old man back in the day, sounds like Neil Young, with the energy of Springsteen, and a vulnerability all his own. If Golledge is only just now beeping onto your radar, we almost envy you the voyage of discovery.

His name has practically become folklore in Sydney’s Inner West, both for the exhilarating unpredictability of his live shows and the curveballs of his repertoire, genre-hopping between’60s country and ’80s Greatest Hits rock.

In 2022, Andy Golledge has embarked on his first national tour to celebrate the release of his highly-anticipated album 'Strength of a Queen'. Debuted at #3 on ARIA’s Top Vinyl Albums and #4 on ARIA’s Australian Country Albums.

CAITLIN HARNETT & THE PONY BOYS

Following the successful release of their latest singles ‘Make You Feel Blue’ & ‘5am’ Caitlin Harnett & The Pony Boys have been carving out their own rabid fanbase and a reputation of raucous live shows, seeing them as the winners of Best Live Act in NSW 2020 in the National Live Music Awards.

Caitlin Harnett & The Pony Boys now release their brand new record 'Late Night Essentials'. Recorded live over a day in the living room of Joseph Ireland (The Middle East, Joseph Liddy & The Skeleton Horse) the album is layered with saxophone, jangly electric guitars and Harnett’s soaring vocals.

Caitlin Harnett & The Pony Boys are reviving 70’s Americana in all its glory, but with a modern twist.
