YOUNG GUMS YOUTH MENTORSHIP
'Young Gums' is an exciting new opportunity for young creatives looking to get an insight into the music and events industry.
An immersive mentorship program led by the good people at Dashville and supported by The Gum Ball's professional and creative community of musicians, artists, technicians and event managers.
A project that targets emerging creatives in regional NSW interested in music festival production and performance.
After its success in 2021, the team from Dashville aim to continue the program in 2022 to train ten (10) dedicated high school students generally aged between 14 - 18 interested in a hands on learning experience in a live festival environment over five (5) days.
The students need to be able to attend the Gum Ball music and arts festival, located at Dashville, near Singleton NSW. The project runs from Wednesday 20th April until Sunday 24tth April 2022.
Over the course of the five days, the students will engage with a range of qualified music professional from musicians to lighting technicians, from set up to showtime, through a series of workshops, tutoring and one on one mentoring.
With The Gum Ball in full swing from the Friday through to Sunday, the ten (10) Young Gum's will get an exciting immersive experience, discovering first hand what it takes to put on a live music event and to be the performer.
As part of the five day immersive experience, the students will carry out daily rehearsals, with the support of a Musical Director, in preparation for a group performance on the last day of the festival.
At the conclusion of each day's program, there will be time for enjoying the festival evening performances with family.
This is the first year of the youth mentoring project and we are excited about being able to provide this opportunity, along with the prospects of continuing it for years to come.
Particular areas of learning include:
